Campaign Ideas:
1. Dark Days
- Concept: Days of Future Past meets Civil War
- Background: Mutant terrorists cause a nuclear detonation that destroys a chunk of Newyork City, the government of the united states instantly outlaws mutants and superhumans unless they are registered and under government control. Superheros and villains take sides - some agree with this and some do not. Those who agree are formed into an organization known as the Elite Corps, a branch of the larger The Corps, the Corps are comprised of various government organization such as SHIELD, Guardsmen and the Sentinels. The Corps quickly take control of the United States of America (with the actual government becoming puppet figure heads) and then starts expanding into other countries until most of the world now falls under the jurisdiction of the Corps. A number of heros/villains who opposed the Corps ended up killed or captured (some imprisoned, some brainwashed or controlled and some just vanished), but there are still a number who resist the Corps and attempt to find a way to bring it down. There are rumors among the resistance that some unknown mastermind orchestrated the whole rise of the Corps and now seek out way to discover who it is and bring about their defeat and that of the Corps. There are a number of resistance groups, including some strong holds like Latveria and Atlantis.
- Characters - players are encourage to play pre-gen characters though they do have option to be Corps or Resistance.
- Note: I have also toyed with the idea of amalgamation universe that includes Marvel, DC, Image and a few other comics (so perhaps Batman leads a resistance out of Gotham).
2. Secret Wars (revisted)
- Concept: a redux of the original Secret Wars concept
- Background: The powerful being known as the Beyonder decides he wants to study the concept of good vs evil and decides to pit heroes vs villains in an epic battle of ideologies and so creates devices that gather the various hero/villains - which in turn brings them to Battleworld - a mismatch world created by the Beyonder to orbit a single star (after he wipes away the rest of the galaxy around the star)... where he effectively tells them to battle and their wildest dreams will become a reality.
- Characters - players can be on either the villain or hero team. Each player will then select one or more pre-gen characters whom will populate each teams "initial" roster.. it is then up to the players to declare their actions/plans for their teams on how to defeat the other side, or escape the planet or defeat the beyonder or convince the beyonder to end the secret wars. If a character is killed or placed in permanent stasis by the other side (or some other means) - then a replacement character is brought in to replace the fallen one... this could continue until all characters on one side are defeated/killed. There is also options for additional faction considerations - like a Mutant Faction or AI faction. This can also be expanded further to include the DC/Image universes. (note: certain beings like galactus are excluded..)
3. Avengers Initiative
- Concept: Formation of the Avengers akin to the MCU, but with different characters.
- Background: Alternate universe - SHIELD Director Nick Fury becomes aware of impending threats to not just the country but the world and goes forth to collect heroes to form a team as part of "The Avengers Initiative". In this universe, all the characters are effectively at their origin point.. so the 50+ years of comic history does not exist beyond the characters origin story (like for example: Wolverine would be when he pops out of the woods with no memory of his past beyond a few months, adamantium skeleton and dog tags that says his name is logan... spiderman would be shortly after the radioactive spider bit him.. the hulk shortly after the gamma ray exposure.. ect... (and if the origin story requires a huge backstory (ie: the vision's original origin story involved ultron and the original torch android and the brain patterns of wonderman) it can be altered to something else but similar). Fury tracks down and invites these people to a shield safehouse where he explains the avengers initiative... just as all kinds of chaos happens.
- Character - players can be any pre-gen character with a clean history slate. Could consider DC/Image characters as well.
4. Cosmic Chaos
- Concept: Cosmic based characters saving the universe.
- Background: Utau the Watcher summons a collection of 'cosmic heros' and warns them of a threat to the universe in his usual cryptic fashion. The collection of heros then set forth to save the universe.
- Characters - cosmic level character - ie: silver surfer, thor, superman ect.. or those who traditional operate in space (members of the guardians of the galaxy, LEGION, green lantern corps..) note: i will also use a blended marvel/dc/image universe - just to mix things up.
5. Stormwatch
- Concept: UN based Avengers
- Background: United Nations sanctions a team of superheros to deal with international superhuman threats (and things like alien invasion)... forms a team comprised of characters from around the world. This team would then be sent to deal with international superhuman threats, alien invasions and perhaps even support UN operations around the world.
- Characters - Players can be play any pre-gen hero character from any country, but limited to 1 from each country.. so if someone picks say Captain America, then no other american characters. Also for every 3 international human characters - 1 alien/extradimensional/near human (example: Martain Manhunter, Thor, Hercules) can be allowed.. provided they have some strong ties to earth. Also permitted would be characters from non-human but earth based cultures.. such as the amazons or atlanteans... but again, 1 for every 3 international humans).
6. Local Heros
- Concept: home-brew characters in a home-brew universe with elements from dc/marvel/image and others
- Background: bunch of heros join up to stop crime and maybe save the planet.
- Characters: player can chose to either play home-brew characters (subject to approval) or reset variants of pre-gen characters (so someone could be say Captain America Steve Rogers.. but instead of created in world war ii and battling nazi/hydra - he is newly created in the present.. wolverine would just come out of the forest with no knowledge of his past (and Project X might not even be a thing).. and so on).
7. Heroes vs Villains
- Concept: Hero players vs villain players
- Background: home-brew universe with elements from other universes. hero characters and villain characters battle it out. The villains will come up with crimes and plots and such and the heros will try and stop them with some NPCs thrown in to screw with everyone. The Heroes of course are heroes and out to keep the city safe. The villains have various agendas of their own creation - becoming he kingpin of crime, taking over the city, state, country, world... just watching the world burn... or what have you. The villain players will run campaign of crime.. while hero players will run campaign of heroics.. and sparks will fly when the two go head to head.
- Characters: Some players will be heros and some will be Villains. Thinking street level to moderate avenger level (so not thor or hulk level). Can choose from marvel, dc or image. Subject to approval. all chaacters with a clean background slate.
